App-based transport service providers to go on strike from midnight

The app-based drivers' union in Bangladesh (a platform for drivers offering ride-sharing services) will continue work abstention tomorrow in order to push home their six-point demand.

Belal Ahmed, the coordinator of the platform, stated that the 24-hour abstention period will begin at 12:01 AM.

After speaking to 35 unions representing app-based service providers in Sylhet, Chattogram, and Dhaka they announced the program a few days ago.

They want app-based service providers to be recognized as labour, a 10% commission on all rides, a halt to police harassment, and a designated parking spot.

Belal Ahmed stated that there was no link between their program and today's incident in which an owner burned his motorcycle after being fined for multiple times.
